Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that Barcelona will certainly be the favourites ahead of the second leg encounter between the two clubs at the Camp Nou.
Even though Chelsea will be coming into the match with a slender 1-0 advantage, Petr Cech reckons that it will certainly be hard for Chelsea to contain Barcelona for the full 90 min.
Hence, the goalkeeper reckons that the Chelsea players should be looking at the possibility of scoring at least one goal in order to have a chance of making it into the final of the Champions League.
This competition has always been the Holy Grail of the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and the club are ever closer to winning the title this season. That said, they are even closer to winning a different trophy too this year – the fa cup odds make them firm favourites with just Liverpool standing in their way to the cup.
Barcelona suffered back-to-back defeats after a gap of nearly three years when they lost to both Chelsea and Real Madrid in successive matches. The 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the first leg of the semi-final at Stamford Bridge was followed by the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid at home. Petr Cech has said that Barcelona are the favourites in the match due to the fact that they are playing at home, but believes that Chelsea have the quality to get past one of the best teams in the world.
“I think Barcelona are favourites for the game because they are playing at home in front of their fans. I think it will be the same type of game as the first leg. A goal for us is going to make a big difference, just like [Andres] Iniesta’s goal made a difference last time. I’ve been hoping for eight years I would have a chance to win the Champions League. We’re in the semi-finals again and I hope this will be the year,” Cech said ahead of the match.
