Former Manchester United right back Gary Neville has hailed the impact Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has had on striker Fernando Torres and has credited him for the revival of the player who was the star performer for the side as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners against fellow Premier League contenders Manchester City last weekend at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish international striker was brilliant throughout the match and set up his German striker partner Andre Schurrle for the opening goal before scoring in the dying minutes of the match, pouncing on a defensive error from Manchester City to seal the match for the Blues in one of the most absorbing encounters of the season.

And speaking to the media, the England assistant boss stated that he can feel the Fernando Torres of old is back and it is clear for all to see how Mourinho has impacted the player, having shown enough confidence in his abilities to leave him to the pitch till the end. Typically, under any other manager, Torres would have substituted around the hour mark and such has been his history with Chelsea but Mourinho is a man who persists with his players and he is reaping the results.

Torres scored twice against Schalke 04 last week in a 3-0 but this was his first goal in the Premier League this season and Neville feels it will lift a weight off his shoulders and he can play more freely now.

Fernando Torres moved to Chelsea in January 2011 from Liverpool for a whopping £ 50 million transfer fee but had failed to deliver for most of time before now and according to the former Manchester United man Neville, he can see Torres has found that hunger once again and that can spell danger for other teams as well.
