For the past few years Fernando Torres has seen his career taking a slump as he failed on making an impact in Stamford Bridge with Chelsea and things didn’t improve after performing with the Italian side Ac.Milan.
Torres later went on and joined Athletic Madrid where he has managed to display glimpses and flashes of brilliance with a few impressive goals being scored but not at a consistent level.
Athletic Madrid failed on defending their Spanish League title as it was taken away by Barcelona who was crowned as the champions of Spain at the end of the season. Diego Simeone wants to reclaim the league title and in order to accomplish this; a few signings have been done.
Jackson Martinez and Luciano Vietto have already been signed by Athletic Madrid as Diego Simeone wanted to reinforce the attacking department of his team. Both of those players are forwards and are expected to play a huge role for the Spanish club in the next season.
After having signed Martinez and Vietto, a question pops up and it involves Fernando Torres, what will happen to Torres?
Torres is desperate to get playing time and score goals but it won’t happen if he stays in Athletic Madrid as reinforcements have already been signed and it will be difficult for Fernando Torres get in the main team of Diego Simeone who has already locked his eyes in other players.
Martinez and Vietto are expected to spearhead the attacking lineup of Athletic Madrid with Fernando Torres having to settle with even more time on the sidelines of the club.
Fernando Torres is nicknamed as: ‘’El Niño’’ which is Spanish for: ‘’The Kid’’ but at the age of 31, he isn’t the same young and energetic player he used to be a few years ago and he should start considering what to do in these stages of his career which might be the final years and seasons of his playing career. By staying in Athletic Madrid, his chances of getting a lot of playing time are extremely limited.
